Upwards of 1000 people are expected to take to our streets on Sunday 5th of March to run, walk, jog, and even scooter, the 10kms to Caroline Bay from Hadlow or, for a lighter task, 3kms from Countdown on Church Street. Some will be led by dogs, more in fancy party dress or disguise, while others load themselves with extra challenges like pushing strollers. Free Ritchie buses will shuttle to Hadlow, but please be early to ensure a ride.
Grateful thanks go to all supporters including volunteers and club members who freely provide their time and resources to make H2H so successful. More volunteers are always welcome, even if for a couple of hours on the day or helping more seriously with lead-up tasks. Please contact John Keenan @ keenanj.s93@gmail.com or 027 292 5267

After the Covid-19 related cancellation last year, the Rotary Club of Timaru North is expecting upwards of 1000 people to take to our streets on Sunday 5th of March to run, walk, jog, and even scooter, the 10kms to Caroline Bay from Hadlow or, for a lighter task, 3kms from Countdown on Church Street. Some will be led by dogs, more in fancy party dress or disguise, while others load themselves with extra challenges like pushing strollers.
There are free Ritchie buses from Caroline Bay to Hadlow, but please be early to ensure a ride.
Entry is by wristband, for full details and make convenient pre-payments, please visit the H2H.org.nz website, or enter on the day. Training programmes by Sport Canterbury can also be found there.
After fifty years the event has evolved and is as popular as ever. Apparently the first event was run in 1971 from the Gleniti Corner, when fun runs were just becoming a popular way for people to join together, exercise, and create times of great fun. Our club picked it up in 1986 and since 2000 has organised it annually.
Entry costs are kept affordable. Sponsorship helps cover costs and funds raised are returned to local community groups such as Hospice, Stroke Club, Heart Foundation and Life Education Trust who assist with the 45 volunteers needed to act as traffic management marshals.
Alpine Energy continues to be our major sponsor offsetting the few costs incurred allowing surpluses to be donated back to the South Canterbury community - more than $180,000.00 since 2000.
The ongoing support from Prime Port and several other businesses also make the event possible. Timaru District Council and Fulton Hogan continue to support the event providing traffic management plans, while Traffic Management services keep participants and other road users safe.
Grateful thanks also go to all volunteers and club members who freely provide their time and resources to make each event so successful. More volunteers are always welcome, even if for a couple of hours on the day or helping more seriously with lead-up tasks. Please contact John Keenan @ keenanj.s93@gmail.com or 027 292 5267
