The Rotary Club of Timaru North, formed on 4 September 1969, and incorporated 21 Oct 2005, maintains a membership of around 60 (including honorary members), enabling support to many community initiatives at local, district national and international levels. Special emphasis is given to youth projects.

Strong emphasis is placed on all avenues of Rotary service, but especially on our members fellowship and events that strengthen the club's ability to provide a growing list of support and service.

Funds are distributed via the Rotary Club of Timaru North Charitable Trust

The usual club calendar includes:

  • Timaru Top Schools - primary student activity day in conjunction with other local Rotary Clubs
  • H2H - the Hadlow to Harbour Fun Walk, Jog, Run in conjunction with sponsors and beneficiaries
  • Dictionaries to Schools - for year4 pupils in conjunction with other local Rotary Clubs
  • 4x4/SUV weekend for members, family and friends
  • Fellowship dinners especially for new members
  • Artarama - student art exhibition and awards in conjunction with the Aigantighe public art gallery
  • Sanford Science and Technology Fair
  • Bookarama - major used book sale
  • Auction fundraiser for Rotary International
  • Wanaka Fishing week - for members, family and fiiends and association with the RC of Wanaka
  • RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards - for young adult leaders
  • RYE - Rotary Youth Exchange with clubs internationally
  • RYPEN - Rotary Programme of Enrichment guidance weekend for local kids ready to step up.
  • RYDA -  Rotary Youth Driver Awareness safety programme for students starting to drive or travelling with novices.
  • Science School sponsorships for exceptional science students
  • Leadership Camp - training and personal development in an outdoor setting
  • World Festival of Magic - a night's entertainment for youth and their families, especially those with less advantages
  • Carols by Candlelight - an evening of Christmas celebration at the Theatre Royal
  • Support to Polio Plus - a vaccination programme to end polio world wide
  • Various Ad-hoc community projects
